Jaakko's Trumpet Concerto in Buffalo

Jaakko Kuusisto's 2017 Trumpet Concerto will be performed in concerts by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on May 12th and 13th. The soloist is Alex Jokipii, the BOP's Principal Trumet, and the performances will be conducted by BPO Music Director JoAnn Falletta. The concerts are being recorded for a future CD release.

The Concerto was originally commissioned by the Marquette Symphony Orchestra in Michigan. The commission was made possible by a gift from John and Pauline Kiltinen. The first performance was in Marquette in November 2017.
